OK, is there anything wrong with this picture?
This picture was taken off of I-82, just north of Yakima. The canoe on the ice is one thing, but notice the sign they drug their canoe past.

PS, the sign is Washington State Department of Transportation. There were a couple of cops driving the freeway and they ignored them.

Please don't tell me they were fishing while one of them was standing in the thigh deep water.
The DOT usually puts up the No Trespassing signs on the collection ponds they build. My guess is that they fear a liable suit in the event someone does something stupid and kills themselves...

I've looked at that pond on numerous occasions and have wondered why there is a WSDOT no trespassing sign there. Isn't there normally a rowboat on shore on the southeast side of this pond? It always looked like private property on the other side, so figured that WSDOT just didn't want anyone accessing it from the freeway.
RE:OK, is there anything wrong with this picture?
that is north elton pond which opened dec.1 the signs should have been covered as they are there to keep people from fishing during the closed season. As to the canoe trick:scratch:

There is a two-trout daily catch limit and no internal combustion engine boats allowed. This lake is open for fishing in the winter only. December- March 1st.

The canoe is to save their dumb ass when the ice breaks.

Ha That's great! I have seen people do similar things on the great lakes. They will bring a canoe along just in the event that the ice will break and drift out into the lake. Of course it's a bit thicker than what we see there... but the same principle. Just trying to keep dry.

It's called sarcasm. Kind of hard to convey through the computer. I thought the amount and style of smiley's I put on showed that. I guess not. All I can say about that is be smart, wear your life vest, and think before you do.:safe:panfisher wrote:mallard83 wrote:At least canoes are very stable and handle well in panic situations.![]()

Tell that to the guy who lost his life last month when the canoe tip'd with 3 guy's fishing one of the I-82 ponds.

Sorry mallardard83! Didn't mean to make it sound like a personal attack#-o In the case I was refering to they had no life jackets, overloaded the canoe and had been drinking. "Think safety people" first ice this time of year and the itch to get out on it. has created many surprizingly eventfull ventures.mallard83 wrote:It's called sarcasm.
