I haven't even started yet. Well that isn't true. I thought and came up with an idea then found that my hooks are to big for the idea. I need to get some smaller hooks and I don't think I can get them until Monday.

I got my pattern figured out, but I need more beads...off to shipwreck & Cabela's tomorrow!
I'll have enough for 6 if we add another.

Those look nice Toni!
I'm close. not sure if my bearing is gonna work right (still a newbie @ this), so I need to get one wet...I'll get that done Thursday.
John, do you have any tips for homemade spinner testing at home?
Also, do you ever seal the blades with clear, I have a patina I'd like to preserve in it's current state...?

Hi Corey, I have a 10gal aquarium with a couple of battery ran submersible bilge pumps, that I use at flea markets. I suppose you could call it a test tank, its pretty cool silent salesman at the flea market. Some of my propeller demo models must have 20,000 miles on them.

Its simpler for me just walk to a neighborhood pond to test them. We are into making lots of the same thing. Thats why the swap is fun! After you've made thousands of them, you get a sense of all the ratios of length to weight and components.

Do need a bearing or two. Not sure what choices you have with that one. Your's too big?

I buy the brass blades lacquered, don't worry about it on the nickel. Did you do some electroplating or bath on yours?

Sounds sweet!

I do have a spare large aquarium...sounds like a summer project though.

I had a "happy accident" that resulted in a cool looking tarnished blade...I can repeat it, but it loses it's color after awhile, so I wanted to preserve the desired patina somehow. I'll try some duplicolor clear applied with a brush, but I don't want to add much more time to this project. As long as mine swims right (test tomorrow), I should have 'em ready to go this weekend.

Here's my batch, I can make another one, no problem.

The #5 Indiana daredevil pattern blades have a bright nickel undersides. Looking at the picture, I guess I better wipe the those backsides off a little!

The spinners weigh 1/5oz and are 3inches in length. I put a positioned a couple friction discs to make blade contact and they should make noise and vibration. Dressed up the trebles with red bucktais.

I haven't put them in the water, but I'm certain they'll catch trout, bass, and pike (I know a Northern waiting for mine). Wondering about the trout a little.

Can't wait to see the other entries.
I think if I put a single hook on it I could catch a salmon!

Toni, would you rather have a single hook on yours? Since I have time, I can make one with a single hook. Maybe not a
bucktail single though.

Yes I would. With out the bucktail. We can't use trebles on salmon here, at least not any where I fish. Salt or river.

single for me too please. The bucktails are awful pretty though.
Most of my fishing is in "selective gear" water.

John, can you tell we are salmon minded more than trout here?

Actually mine are gonna be used for trout. I used to use the red/white daredevil spoons for rainbows as a kid, so I think those might be some tasty trout spinners...then again, trout is what I usually target anyways.
I've never been salmon fishing...yet!

Since it was selective gear I assumed salmon. Do you fish a selective gear lake?

My Dad and I go to Ross Lake to catch Rainbows for a week every year...been a tradition for 30 years. Also I go single hook because I release the majority of the fish I catch and it just seems gentler on the fish. Sometimes I hit rivers that are also selective gear and/or C&R only.
I still catch lots of fish, you just have to pay attention and not let the line get any slack in it.
When I fish Lake Washington from shore (which is a few blocks away) I typically use single hooks, because I don't plan on keeping what I catch.

Done. Target species would be trout. I think those are 1/8 oz weight bodies (sorry, my gear box is a mess, lol). I extended the hooks back to deal with the nippers.

I can't wait to get my hands on them. Good thing I have a 2 rod endorsement. I can troll 2 spinners at a time.
