(cat)fish'n double hitter!

Post by panfisher » Sun Sep 30, 2007 9:03 pm

a freind of mine told me how they caught two cats on a crappie set-up the other night with two more bigger ones that put up nasty fight before the night was done. the story goes that the guys wife put two 8 week old kittens out into their garage because they were being curious to that area, (they had two batch's with two of their house cats) well about 15-20 min. there was such a ruckess comming from the garage, they ran to check it out they found the two kittens all tied up in his fishing gear.( it was a crappie set up that had two hooks on the same line) one was hooked in its upper lip and the other in its paw, as they attempted to extract the hooks they put up an awful struggle that the two mother cats heard and started to go after my freind and his wife really tearing into them but they got the hooks out after a pretty good fight all around. any of you have anything simular happen? i had a good laugh as i was petting the kittens. <')//<

being a cat lover myself i did feel sorry for the kittens, i had to laugh at how my freinds got beat-up by the two mother cats which are usually very relaxed and playful. as the old saying (curiousity killed the cat) or caught the cats!!! the kittens were fine after the ordeal.

When I first read the bulletin I thought it would be about Catfish, I was way suprised that it was about kittens. That was a horrible story and I feel very sorry for the kittens. I hope you remember to set up your fishing supplies next time, so that no1 else can get hurt. Plus if you keep your fishing poles laying on the ground, what keeps others from stepping on them. I still cant believe that you found that story to be funny. Ppl these days :-({|=
If in doubt set the hook!

I find that to be funny personally. How isn't that funny? Do you not laugh if you see someone get hit in the balls or something similar? If you do, and you feel bad about the cats then that is very hypicritical. No difference between the two.

I had a cat that did something similar. We came home one night and our kitten was dangling a couple a feet off of the floor by his paw. He had been hooked by a hoochie which was attached to the end of a rod. So we ended up naming him Hoochie. LOL.

People and animals get hurt all the time and sometimes it is very funny. This story just happens to fall under the funny category. If you can't laugh at life, then what is the point of living.

But this is different. It causes pain and suffering. When a guy gets hit in the balls with a baseball, we all laugh, he shakes it off and laughs after that. It causes pain, sure, but no suffering, because he is able to laugh it off. But when that baseball hits him anywhere else, it is "Oh, sorry are you OK? That sucks." And the cat got hooked, which is as funny as putting a salmon hook through my hand and dangling me from a ten foot pole. If you think the cat suffering is funny, then you think the situation with me is funny. To use your words against you, not thinking so is hypocrisy. I will step off my soap box now. Maybe its good for a quick laugh, but I wouldn't want to see it over and over.

No, I am sorry but I disagree. Suffering is torture, torture is not what these cats went through. And what do you do unless you are a complete p@$$ when you hook yourself out on the water, you shrug it off like you got hit in the balls with your buddies. And no I would not want to see this over and over like yourself because I can only laugh at something so long before it becomes old. Remember pain is only temperary, so get over it.

I think many of us have strayed from the point of this website. Myself included. Differences of opinion are fine, but this conversation is going nowhere. This has happened many times over the past month, and I'd like it all to stop. So I am going to stop fueling meaningless debates like this and keep my opinion to myself unless it is constructive. I'm sorry, I needed to step back from where these conversations have been going the last month and see the pointlessness of it all. No hard feelings Mallard. I hope others can see what is going on too with all the stuff happening in the bass section. I'm done, let's all be friends. It's just a fishing forum.

it's interesting what kind of response this got. some things to learn from are to keep our sporting gear up, and some people see the glass half full/some see it half empty as to how people see things differently like republicans-vs-democrates etc, my friend who told me this story certainly was not laughing during and after because they like their pets, but it got to the funny side when i told several stories of getting hooked myself, along with my wife and several of our kids when they were younger of which wasn't funny at the time but we can laugh at those times now. all this was talked about while both of those kittens were purring in my lap, yea to me it is funny when you try to picture how both got into their predicament and the other predicament of holding off the other bigger cats to help those two, maybe they should be named (tom & huck) because of the perdicaments they'll probably get themselves into the future. <')//<

Yea, I know mallard. I just am sorta fed up with how the forum has been going the last month, just sorta ranting and going overboard. Its amazing how a few days can change your perspective. In a couple days I'll be regretting that I said my last post. But thats fine. I can laugh it off. :cat:
