New to Trout Fishing

Post by squidder25 » Tue Apr 16, 2013 6:23 pm

Hey fellow anglers!

I'm new to the trout fishing scene and was hoping to get some pointers on where some good places are to fish some Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout in the South King County area (though I'm open to driving 1 hour or so away from the area).

Thanks in advance and I really appreciate it!

Heya Squidder! Welcome. You don't say if you have a boat or not. Knowing that would help others give you advice. If not, it might also get others offering you a trip out on theirs. I'm based in north Kitsap and can suggest some places here. Just be aware, most lakes are closed now, but due to open on the last weekend of this month.

A lot of lakes are open right now. Most lakes are year round, check the regs before you go though. Your best bet is to check WDFW plant reports for a lake near you that was recently planted.

For trout, get yourself a power bait starter kit from Wal-Mart. A couple of kastmasters and rooster tails. If you're trolling from a boat, get some pop gear. Then look up the lakes in your area that have been planted in the lake index here to get locations and tips from the reports, and head out!
