opening day trout

Post by gpc » Mon May 14, 2007 9:53 am

Just wondering where everyone went for opening day. I usually go somewhere for the weekend but this year I stayed with in 10 miles of my house. I went to Steel lake. I caught 15 planters. It wasnt the same as going camping but last year it cost me $300 for the weekend and I caught 10 on the weekend. So catching 15 in one day for free, cant beat that.

My partners and I hit the Mighty Medical. While the trout density in this lake is low compared to it's sister lake West Medical (3000-3500 vs 200,000 or so stocked annually, fry included), it provides for a quality, low-pressure experience. Selective gear regs, no motors, concerned anglers, and lots of game warden and police presence keep these fish large, fat and healthy. It's one of the few lakes where an angler can get near-trophy rainbows, browns and tigers, something two of managed to do.

hey fishless..... kind of like when you wasted forum space asking if howard lake got stocked[-x . I read the stocking reports and I was the person who answered that question for you. So go practice tying knots or casting your not on my level and youve already proved that. [-(

Stop, Gentlemen! The rest of us don't want to hear it! It was a very basic forum question that gives us all something to chat about.....not argue over.

The only problem with this is was that steel lake is it opened that day. It wasnt too crowded but I was fishing off a private dock, the public dock was slamed. Last year we went to offut. A year round lake that still got stocked near the opener. The fishing was good are there was no crowds. We even rented a boat from the resort with no problems. Cheap boat rental as well, it was only like $3 an hour for a row boat, we just brought our own motor. At offut they even have an opening day tourny for a $1 a day. I think the pay out was $30 for the day but the big fish for the weekend won a minn kota. There are 2 lakes real close to offut, one is mcintosh and the other is deep lake. We did pretty good fishing on all 3 lakes. The people that run the offut resort are Very nice as well

I just happened to stumble across this thread and I have a few things to say about it. I know it can be hard to NOT respond to a post that seems to be asking for a negative response, but please, for your own sake, resist the urge. Bickering will not be tollerated in the forums. I have 4 children that bicker and argue with each other all the time and I really don't want to deal with it here as well.

Just keep in mind that I don't really want to be a Mediator, so my easiest choice is to just suspend or ban both parties. Enough said.

Ok, I moved this topic here. I don't really care about the argument I just wanted it moved out of public sight.
