Makes sense to periodically clean weeds, but why would that coincide with dropping another stacker down the cable? I would expect to do it when going through a heavy debris area, or maybe every 30 minutes routinely to check. Put a different way, if you dropped your gear and two minutes later the shallow line got a fish, and you ran through no weeds, you'd still bring it up to check for weeds? Not trying to be argumentative but I'm missing the logic.
For sure though this system is not good if you have to lean far out to clip it into the cable.

Re: DR gear for Trout and Kokes
--Not taking it as being argumentative thanks.
--For sure I'm going to give your stacker system a try in Skaha as very few floating weeds... although I still check if not catching fish.
--On Osoyoos you don't have to bring up the rigger to check there are floating islands of weeds so they aren't necessarily in the same place but there is so much of it you can see the downrigger line bow back with the weight of the weeds... If you're really unlucky it is already bowing back when you get to depth so back up it comes.
--I was thinking the stackers that are more like a planner board on the line might be able to clear or at least push some of the weeds to the bottom of the line thus reducing the number of times I have to reel the downrigger in. There is no shortage of fish so don't usually have to bring up the DR between fish on.
