RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
Spring has a ton of bluegill, and bass. The trout fishing there is weird, I've caught some there, but my advice is to fish it on a warm day because it gets cold up there!

What do you use to catch the gills in spring?Rob G. wrote:Spring has a ton of bluegill, and bass. The trout fishing there is weird, I've caught some there, but my advice is to fish it on a warm day because it gets cold up there!

Well I wasn't trying to catch Bluegill, and this is pretty embarassing, but I was trolling a wedding ring and I fought what I thought was a smallie for about 5 minutes and I was all proud to catch a smallie right?....even held it up to show some other guys in a boat about 40 yards away....and my kids were all excited that we caught something other than trout right? Took pictures (so glad that I didn't post them, never got around to it) and recently I went back to look at the pictures and sure enough it was a huge bluegill. The only reason I know this is because a while back I was reading some posts about someone catching crappie and everyone was all over the guy because he had posted a picture of a bluegill! I've mainly fished for trout and salmon my whole life so up until recently I couldn't have told you the difference...so there you go bluegill in Spring Lake, Renton Wahsington....go get em'
RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
Ok now I really feel dumb...I just looked at the pic again...and it's probably a crappie! Don't listen to me unless I'm talking about trout fihsing at Lake Wilderness.....I am the KK of Lk. Wildernesss and that's where my mojo ends....LOL
RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
And just remember this Rob, I am only an expert catching three species in that lake...RBT, KOK, and CT. The other 25 or species I really don't have a clue how to catch...but I have an idea. It goes to show that even though the lake is large and there are lots of fishable miles, I only know one tactic on the whole lake...it's very humbling...don't sweat it...I always scratch my head at the people who jump on others for not ID'ing the fish right away...sometimes it takes some good detective work and the WDFW mannual.Rob G. wrote:Ok now I really feel dumb...I just looked at the pic again...and it's probably a crappie! RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
any tips on how to upload a picture? the site keeps telling me that the file is too big, even though I cropped the darn thing like 5 times! How come all of KK's pics are ok? they're huge compared to the one I'm trying to upload!

There are two ways to put up pictures.Rob G. wrote:any tips on how to upload a picture? the site keeps telling me that the file is too big, even though I cropped the darn thing like 5 times! How come all of KK's pics are ok? they're huge compared to the one I'm trying to upload!
1. After you make your entry you go back and select the "Attach" button at the top of your post and attach a file that is on your harddrive. Sometimes it will tell you it is too large and sometimes it will attach a link to it.
2. While making your post you select the image icon at the top of the box. It looks like a mountain with the sun above it. When you select this it will place text in your post [ img ][ /img ] (I added spaces so it would show up in this post). Then you navigate to a picture on the internet, on www.photobucket or www.snapfish or any site where you have your photos. Right-click on the image and select "properties" copy the url address and paste it right in between the [ img][ /img] brackets. Post your comment and ta da there it is!
This is from a web site called toothpaste for dinner

Now I'm intrigued. Post it up, we want to see it Rob G.
A good place to look for species identification if here: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/warmwater/warmwater_2005.pdf
Also, the Washington Regulation book has them in it as well. Pick one up. Very handy to have all year long.

RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
Sometimes what I do is copy the photos to my hard drive as opened in Microsoft Photoshop and when attached via the thread they show up as a link only...but when I open that same file (.jpeg) with "Paint" and then save it again, then upload it through the attachment button, it works perfectly fine and you get the whole picture. I hope it works for you!Rob G. wrote:any tips on how to upload a picture? the site keeps telling me that the file is too big, even though I cropped the darn thing like 5 times! That's a nice crappie.
The smaller (and larger) crappie-holding lakes in the King County area are some of the most closely guarded secrets.

RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
Clark lake has bluegill other then that all I know of for crappie is sawyer.
RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
Nice crappie, those things are excelent eating. And possibly my most favorite thing to fish for. They school up so if you catch one there will more than likely be more.
RE:lakes that you cant keep fish
Caught it at spring lake in Renton last may, and check it out....trolling a wedding ring with a worm! I weighed it and it was 1.5 lbs! I cleaned it and gave it to my neighbor...he's from Texas so he was pretty happy!kuttkilla wrote:HUGE Crappie...nice fish!! Where'd you catch that bad lady again?
