I finally found a chair that's big enough for my butt! It's made by Cool Ride Action Products and its 21 inches wide. It also has mesh panels on the back and bottom that allow air to circulate. No more sweaty butt -- and no more of those nasty butt pimples I get from sitting in a sweaty chair all day (My wife loves those... NOT
).
I've already installed a swivel base and need to build a platform to mount it on. I'll post another pic when it's finished.
Oh yeah, these babies are kind of pricey but Joe's has all boat seats and accessories on sale right now for 25% off. This one ended up costing $37 which is a good price for a chair this nice. YEE HAW!

I hesitated to include the part about pimples, but I figured I was not the only person who suffered this affliction after sitting on a plastic chair all day. It ain't pretty -- or comfortable.

My son told me the main reason he does not want to go fishing with me is that the bench seats in the canoe are so uncomfortable.
Is it a major operation to put seats like this in a canoe?

I've never installed one in a canoe, but it should be doable. Canoes are kind of "tippy", so I'd definitely try to keep the center of gravity as low as possible. One of the nicest things about custom seats is the swivel. You don't have to twist your back all day!

This is too funny.
I always give my grandpa a hard time cause he whines about the plastic boat seat so much. Then one trip he got so irritated with me that he basically mooned me in the middle of the lake! Butt pimples are no joke!
i went out and bought him a new seat the same trip. I can't stop laughing. The images are horrible.
Rum is good.

I broke down and bought a deluxe steel platform for the new chair. They were also on sale for 25% off.
Chair: $49.99 - 25% = 37.50
Swivel: 5.99 - 25% = 4.50
Base: 119.99 - 25% = 90.00
$25 off $100 purchase coupon brings the final total down to $107 -- which is about 40% off the retail price.
That's a little more than I intended to spend, but this setup is top-of-the-line.

Your to funny man.
Great set-up, I hope it does wonders for your butt pimples.
