Has anyone noticed....?

Post by beerman1981 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 7:38 pm

On the main page, under the "picture corner," there is a recurring picture that comes up with various incorrect tags. The picture is two guys, obviously a son and a father. The son is in a red coat holding up a very nice largemouth bass. The father is standing beside him, dressed in a nice shirt and slacks. There have been all sorts of crazy captions for this picture. The latest was something like "hammi holding a 21 pound carp caught on ?????? lake." I have also seen it tagged as a 20ish inch rainbow trout. I'm not griping, was just wondering if I was the only one that had ever noticed this?

The old upload script used to upload photos directly to the photo folder and attach the name to the report. if someone uploaded another pic with the same name it was just overwritten and the filename saved with another report.

Now there is a random number generated for each photo to keep that from happening. It's too trivial for me to dig through 14,000 reports to find it.

I have seen that before and just considered it miss labeled. Now that you mention it, that pic does come up a lot.

It's all random man... as far as random numbers go... which computers do a really bad job of generating.

Had to go through 270 pics to find it but I believe this is the one you are referring to.

The discription under the pic is:
Duff's LMB from Island Lake in Kitsap County. 5/19/2006

Another one that I see a lot (or just notice more) is the one with the guy and his little girl and he is having the bigger trout eat a smaller one. Great pic too.
I'll find it.

It's a conspiracy. Now that these are up in this post, everyone who sees this will always notice these ones. #-o

In that case, don't worry about it. A few minor kinks that have no real major problems aren't worth searching through all the reports...

I'm a cranky bastard tonight. Tired as all hell. Spent the entire day Sat trying to find a clamshell plug for the bottom of my 14' Livingston. Drove all over and back. Couldn't find one. Had to improvise. Finally got it sealed up and was ready to go fishing... by about 12am. Got up at 4am to go fishing and was on the lake till 12. I'm still feeling it.

I caught a 19" RB.. 1.5-2lbs. It was an exciting catch... but the other 7 hours on the lake... a bit boring. Especially for my buddy who didn't catch a thing all day.

Thanks fishnislife. You know this time of year, so many reports come in at once I miss seeing many of them. To counter this I go back to "view all freshwater reports" and go through each one of them individually. Still, I seem to miss some. This site is really taking off thanks to spreading the word through business cards, license plate frames, and t-shirts, among others. And now we have bumber stickers! :-"

I am kind of a computer nerd (so to say) I usually have 5-6 tabs opened to different sites at a time reading different things, putting posts together in Word, and on different forums too. Actually, I am also listening to an audio file as well right now while I am doing all this. Pretty sad, I know. But I don't find this to be difficult for some reason. I have been doing this for years now and as this forum goes, I am a member of another forum similiar to this one and have been for 5 years, so I don't find this site hard to navigate.

Truth be told, it would take me all of 10 seconds to write a SQL query to tell me all the reports that pic is attached to... :)

Same here buddy. I've always got two instant messangers opened (msn and aim), I always have tunes playing, and at least four internet explorer tabs opened (washingtonlakes is one of them), and lots of times I have google earth open too. I'm glad I have 3 gigs of ram... If only I could get that new dual core processor. hmmm.

KK: As long as you keep the list sorted by posted date, and not the date they actually went fishing, you shouldn't have too hard of a time reading them all.

I usually have 2 computers on with the keyboard/mouse shared between 3 19" flatscreens running 3 instances of Visual Studio, 2 or 3 instances of SQL Enterprise Manager and/or Query Analyzer, 4 or 5 IE windows, 3 or 4 Windows Explorers, 1 FTP window, 2 or 3 excel spreadsheets, 2 or 3 Notepads, and at least 1 MSN window with Mike.

Everything runs great on my Quad Core CPU with 4gb of RAM and 15k RPM Raided Raptor SATA drives.
