Bass/Musky Combo Fish-in
When will we be getting a little more info on the upcoming Bass/Musky Fish-in that is going to be held on June 14th? Is it just for current members of the two clubs or can potential members attend? How will it be structured?
I worry about belonging to a club that accepts people like me as members!
RE:Bass/Musky Combo Fish-in
I'm curious to hear the details too

RE:Bass/Musky Combo Fish-in
The past few fish-ins that WBC has done have started with breakfast at a local greasy spoon. Nothing makes for a great day of fishing like a stack of pancakes and some BACON. Usually launch around 6am and come back to the launch for lunch. Choli and dogs, maybe some rock bass if I can catch enough! Then everyone goes back out for the afternoon and fished until everyone gets tired. I have not gotten any information from Larry, but I will prod him for some more info. I also heard that some of the Muskie guys will be helping us bass folks catch the toothy buggers, and we get to teach you how to dropshot and pitch docks.
Kevinb- The fish-ins are usually an all day event, although you may bail whenever your wife wants you home!!!!! LOL

I just get tired of fishing muskies and bass because I'm so good at it.
I was hoping to fish the awesome sturgeon in here too.
I'll give Mark a call unless he replys soon.

Ol' Deadeye and Larry need to get together.
From what I remember we are also going to have to match up guys without boats with guys with boats. And such as...I'm a Musky guy with a boat so if there is a bass guy without a boat we'd partner up and such and that is why terrorists don't have maps!! As such..

Waiting on Larry to get back to me on a couple issues then I'll post the particulars. Should be a fun day. I could sure use some new bass fishin pointers.

Hey Deadeye- Will you have some of those charlie's leaders for us lowly bass anglers to purchase from you? I still have a couple that I got from you at the sportsmans show, but I could use a few more.

Dilbert.
Those were a special purchase for the show. They sold out right after the show. You can contact him yourselves either via Ebay or email him. Check under Charlier2753, that's his seller name or just look under musky leaders.

RE:Bass/Musky Combo Fish-in
This just in from Mr Larry Sullivan:
Members: Saturday, June 14th is the day of the Musky/Bass Combo Fish-In that we're participating in along with Western Bass Club. This should be a fun filled day for all that attend. I know I need to update the bass fishing side of my brain and some of the WBC members want to learn some musky fishin. I think we're all using our boats but sharing spots and info and helping each other.
The meeting spot is Shari's in Bonney Lake for breakfast at 5 am. If you'd rather just go to the launch, 6 am sharp. Bring your musky and bass stuff and let's have some fun. This is a great opportunity to pick up some new members and make new friends. Hope to see you there. We might want to bring our Motorola style radios with us for this outing. This way info can be shared without having to come in to the launch.
Larry will decide when we'll fish till.

What kind of radios do you guys use? I have 2 FRS radios so I could bring one extra to share with someone. They are older though, so no GMRS capabilities. I also have a 2-meter/440mhz for when I really want to nerd it up.Deadeyemark wrote: We might want to bring our Motorola style radios with us for this outing.

Radios have the benefit of getting the information to everyone at once. Plus there's the secret squirrel coolness factor.

This seemed to work alright at Curlew. One suggestion, It's my understanding tht the upper channels,12-14 have more power. Maybe I will try a little experiment and see if it makes a difference. If it does, we should use one of these channels.

My radio owners manual states that channels 1-7 and 15-22 are 1 watt channels and 8-14 are .5 watt channels. That's why I picked channel 3 last tourney. Higher watts and it's how many muskies I'll catch on the 14th, LOL.
I think we're going to go with radios for all tourneys simply because you're talking to eveyone when you broadcast so anyone, especially the closest boat can respond. Cell phones can be tough especially when the person you're calling is running his big motor etc. You can call a lot of boats before you get one close that hears.

Thanks for looking it up, Mark. That's good to know. I think it's a good idea to use radios. They actually work fairly well most of the time. I thought you just picked that channel to help you remember your favorite trolling speed for Musky!
