Racfish, what do you mean by instruments? Is it something for work? just curious. i can't help you with turkey feathers, but i can say that if you go to one of the Fly shops they should have what you need. Kaufman's downtown, or the Avid Angler in Lk. Forest park

The feathers are used for an instrument called a Shofar. It is a rams horn hollowed out and used for the Jewish religion. On Jewish New Years certain people blow this horn at designated parts of our services.Turkey feathers are used after a vinager /water rinse.the feathers keep objects from getting in the mouth piece and also because the turkey is a kosher bird.Thats the skinny on it.Its gets deeper but I thought that bout sums it up.
Honestly I grease my body with tar then roll in feathers for Thanksgiving.Im used as a centerpiece.Muahahaha
