Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River

Post by AdsBot [Google] » Sat Jun 23, 2007 11:56 pm

I've just started fishing this stretch of water and it is so beautiful. I'm looking for tips on where to put in and wade. I've found some holes and have done well with elk hair caddis, royal wulffs, paraschute adams and some copper johns. Where the Pratt river enters way up on FS road 56 the flow is quite fast. I haven't done that well up there. I assume the time to fish that would be later in August. Where are "the boulders?" and how would I go about finding them and an access point. I'm just wondering where some of you fish this river and where productive areas are. I've fished some of the North Fork already and have had fish to 13." Nothing over that yet. Anyone with any information about the middle/north Forks let me know because this is an amazingly gorgeous river and I love fly fishing this area. Also, any other flies that are good to use up here? I've found good luck with hares ears too. Ok, thanks guys and good luck with fishing.

I've never really fished the middle fork but I've driven and hiked along it many times
As I recall there is a good access where the taylor river comes in with camping and everything.

After you cross the taylor the road (a very bad road) sort of runs along the north side of the fork for some miles
finally ending at the trailhead for the trail to Lake Ivanhoe and Dutch Miller Gap... I've been on those trails a few times.

There's a trailhead about half way between the taylor river and the Dutch Miller Gap trailhead but I can't remember the name of the lake its goes to..... Anyways there's a trail right there that drops down to the middle fork and a bridge that allows easy crossing of the water... on the other side there is a trail that runs pretty much the entire length of the middle fork from taylor river to
Dutch Miller Gap trailhead.... I've hiked most of this trail but it's been several decades and things might have changed. I can definitely recall seeing trout in some of the pools though and have always wanted to get back there with a fly rod....
Fish doesn't smell "fishy" because it's fish. Fish smells "fishy" when it's rotten.
