OK, I’ve been looking forward to the June 1st opener on the Skagit for weeks. I even took the day off. Now the river is almost out of its banks, fast and muddy all the way up past Marblemount. Making matters worse we had to head south Sunday afternoon and when we drove over the Snohomish it (and I assume the major tributaries) is also running high and muddy. My back-up plan had been to fish the Sky in the vicinity of the Wallace River but with it being a 100 mile + drive not sure that I want to head that way if it is not fishable. Geeze…a day off and no place to fish for salmon. Maybe I’ll head to Lake Shannon and fish for Kokanee.

Its called mountain snow melt. The Snoqualmie for the past few weeks has been high and slightly silted.I know when it clears that river will be full of fish.High waters like the ones around here need this flow to help perpetuate the future fish runs.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

The Skagit is dropping fast and greening nicely. I walk to the mouth of Gilligan Creek every evening and the daily changes are incredible. Just gotta figure out how to keep the dogs at home and out of the river and creek.
Yeah, I'm a Cupcake! Better that, than dry and stale like Biscotti!

I was in Yakima last weekend and the Yakima isnt much better.I threw a couple spinners and spoons and the current was way too fast and it was silted pretty good.
