Looking for harvestable trout next week

Post by GreenTackle » Fri Jun 05, 2009 9:55 am

Hey all, how's everyone doinng?

I'm a Portland guy, however, I'll be headed up to Olympia next Friday to go fishing with my Sister. We would prefer to target trout and hopefully harvest a couple for dinner. I have an inflatable boat with electric trolling motor... any suggestions on where we might want to go near Olympia? I was thinking Black Lake for its close proximity but I'm open to suggestions.

Sorry, wrong side of the state for me, I hope some one responds soon.

Try looking at the lakes on a map near the area you will be in, then go to the reports section of this site and search out the lakes. See what has been written up on them, see which ones will be best for you and your siste.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

I hear Cushman is a nice place for trout but I think its C&R due to the specific species there.

Black lake is decent. Check the weekly stocking reports for a lake near your location - http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/plants/weekly/

Offut lake... sure winner! They have boat rentals also. Good Luck

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.
