Can a person catch trout in Rufus Woods all year long? Is it better in the fall and winter? I have never been there to fish.

Thanks

Yes, Rufus Woods is open year around. RW fishes great the year around. Larger fish seem to be caught as the water temp hovers around 40 degrees. Anything that catches Trout will work on Rufus Woods. That being said, trolling close to the shore is very effective. I use dark colored flies behind a wiggle fin. Large Woolly buggers work the best for me in black, brown or olive color.
Here’s the wiggle fin web site: http://wigglefin.com/

Casting towards the shore using dark colored Super Rooster Tails can be very effective.
Casting and trolling Spinners and spoons works fine. The secret when trolling (Water is gin clear) is to make sure that you’re offering is a long way behind your boat. I troll my flies, spoons, spinners and wiggle fin set ups sometimes as far back as 150 or 200 feet.

Various Jigs will work well in the area of the net pens.

Should the bite turn off you can always lower yourself and become a bait fisherman.
Power bait, worms, marshmallows, eggs and other assorted despicable methods of enticing a bite do sometimes work but I personally would never be caught dead with pink, green or rainbow colored fingers (Wink, Wink) Fish this stuff on the bottom.

And because you're new to fishing Rufus Woods.
