I don't think it being a pink year will help, everyone in the kitsap peninsula will be at both these rivers. last year the crowds sky rocketed, there used to be only a few people fishing the tahuya and at most 20 people on the upper quil, now there are more than 20 cars before 7am, atleast at the quil they are hatchery fish and there will be enough for the people that know how to fish there. btw the fish will bite eggs in there.
Oh yea, that's why I'm fishing humpies. I only bonk girls. But it's not much use, there won't be any fish in those creeks. Everyone should go to the bogey, now that's where the fish will be. Or the Cowlitz. No fish on the Quill.

WOW there were SOOOOOOOOOOO many people today it was unreal, it was almost shoulder to shoulder in some spots. I only ended up with today with a broken rod, it sucked, out of stupidity of all things, set my rod down after getting my fish, forgot about it, went to bleed my fish then SNAP, the ah $#*@ feeling, look over and my rod in 2 pieces, I was so mad at my self.

i went to the quil between late ferries and the hoodcanal opening the bridge i made it the the river at 840, (i took the first ferry) i got the the 101 and say a mass of cars. i sqeezed into some trees and set off. i walked from 101 down the rodgers trying to find something that didnt have a ton of people and looked fishy. on the way back i talked to one nicer old guy who was standing by some shallow rapids and told me to just wait the fish are so spoked they stop anywehere there isnt people. i got myself a nice 10lbs buck, easily the biggest fish i saw caught all day. with that being said there were a lot more people and the standard snaggers, but this year the snagging didnt seem as bad as last. i didnt see any treble hooks this year... i will be back but i will be there before first light.

not as bad, it is way worse, I see trebles all the time, quilcene specials/silver spiders you name it. my dad got one the other day with a huge treble stuck in its side. the crowds, don't get me started way worse than I have ever seen it and I have been fishing there for 10 years now, it is ugly, I am even debating on not going this coming weekend because how bad it might be not to mention they are netting the mouth

i dont know maybe i am just turning a blind eye and dont want to really see what people are using to get there fish. i will be back up there on saturday, we are stayin the night and will be hiking into the river at about 5am to hit a spot from where the fish moved in over night. not hopping for a mid morning high tide push.

those fish will get picked off pretty quick, I would say sleep in, let the crowd die down because no one is patient there and hit it when they are coming in from high tide.
