Tolt River worth fishing?

Post by JerryGarcia » Mon Dec 15, 2014 1:55 pm

I've fished for just over a year now (bank fishing). Fished Tokul Creek, Snoqualmie/Big Eddy to the falls, Green-Metzler area, and Reiter/Ben Howard and even the Wallace once. But am wondering about the Tolt. It is 20 minutes from my house. I realize there is no hatchery so probably not many fish. But, can anyone give me some info? Silvers in fall? Steelhead in winter? I have a teenager and am introducing fishing to him so he can have a lifelong hobby. fishing in solitude would be a nice change. you can PM me if you don't want everyone to see your answer.

thanks for any feedback

No. Salmon are off limits, native steelhead come back when the river is closed, and the "trout" that you hook are smolts better left alone. They stopped planting it years ago. It's a shame.

A major shame, it was one of my go to streams when I was a teenager. Many multiple fish days and had a run of very late coho. The Tolt was a very fun small stream to fish.

The upper mainstem is quite pristine and very majestically beautiful. We do surveys up there in the fall, it's a great place to be that time of year. God's country.
