Looking for bass clubs in Washington. Especially looking in Vancouver area. Even if not in the area I'm looking for tell others about your club. Brag on your club a little bit. Tell me about your meetings, tournaments, and other activities.

i was gonna join that club but one day when i was getting some stuff at anglers choice when walt (the owner) told me about northend. they have a meeting every month and 5 two day tournaments a year. there's a raffle at the end of every meeting and there's a guest speaker most of the time. it's a small club with some great guys.

Generally you contact the club and find out when they meet and attend one of their meetings. I have never seen a club that didn't welcome visitors.

If you are still interested in joining after attending a meeting, ask one of the club oficers what the joining requirements are. He will help you contact a couple members from the membership committee. Usually you will go fishing with one or two of these guys before the next meeting to determine if you are the kind of person they would welcome into their ranks.

Usually when evaluating a prospective member, they look to see what kind of a sportsman you are. Are you ethically sound, do youy obey the laws, do you respect the other guys boat, do you practice catch and release, etc. Your fishing prowess comes in to play only slightly, so if your new to bass fishing,but are an okay guy to have in the boat, they'll let you in. Conversely, if you are a seasoned pro with good manners, they'll let you in also.

At your next meeting they will have a portion of the agenda set aside for voting in new members. You will not be in the room for the discussion, as the guys who took you fishing will give the members a report. After the discussion they will vote. Some clubs use a blackball method, some a simple majority, some 90%; it's up to the club. After the vote, which usually is in the affirmative, they will invite you to join.

It's pretty simple, though I was longwinded about it. I recommend a local club for anyone who wants to improve their bass fishing skills and is looking for the comraderie that can only come from sharing an interest with a group of people who have the same passion as you.

I realize that most of the traffic on this site is either eastern or northwestern Washington and so none of the bass clubs mentioned so far are anywhere near me here in Vancouver. The point may be moot, though because I am an inexperienced fisherman and had to laugh when one of the reports said the fellow had only caught seven bass in six hours on the lake...I have not caught seven bass in three YEARS! (LOL)
Do they let folks who are still learning all about it join? And are there any clubs in the Vancouver area?

Most clubs will let a beginner join. The ones that don't, I'm not so sure I would like to join. My first club was a small club started by us sailors at Whidbey Island and we actually taught several people to fish. My club in Tennessee was good for that, too.

So far, I have not found a Vancouver area club. I know of several in the Portland area, but they mostly fish Oregon lakes or the Columbia River. I'm weaning away from Oregon fishing and still prefer to buy a non-resident Washington license. Thinking about the Longview club, though.

i think it would be a great idea for you to join a club lskiles. you would get to fish in the back of someones boat and learn a TON.

Hey, thanks for the advice and encouragement. I checked out the web site for Mt St Helens Bass Masters. Sounds pretty cool maybe I will check out the meeting.
