Has anyone seen or caught any natives out of the snoqualmie river yet this year because i am thinking about going out there and hitting it up if the fishing has been good.
RE:Steelhead
It closes friday so you should fish it quick.

RE:Steelhead
They are still filtering in. They run through May, but by then they are all spawned out usually and are headed back to sea...

RE:Steelhead
do u know when the river is reopened after it closes
RE:Steelhead
Check the regs. Sometimes different sections of the river open when others remain closed. Usually it won't re open for a while. Probably wont open when the natives are still running...fishingmachine wrote:do u know when the river is reopened after it closes

It is quite good fishing up there right now. The WDFW officer that was at Beaver Lake Monday confirmed that the fishing has been quite good for steelies by the Raging River's inflow and up on past Preston, also below Preston to the Tolt is good fishing water. I just drove up there a few days ago to check it out...the water conditions are prime, i.e. clear, but not too clear, good CFS, and it had an overall fishy feel to it all...get out before it closes, which is like 2 days!fishingmachine wrote:Has anyone seen or caught any natives out of the snoqualmie river yet this year because i am thinking about going out there and hitting it up if the fishing has been good.

Yeah...but there are some good fisheries taking place right now...fishingmachine wrote:yeah i figured

For starters...if you have an electric trolling motor and small raft/aluminum boat you can fish Lake Washington for cutthroats. It was very calm today and fishing is GOOD.
However, I would highly recommend those that could get up and fish the Snoqualmie before it closes to do so, because the water conditions are ideal...I even talked to the fishing manager at Joe's in Kirkland and he confirmed that the Sky has been putting out some nice, nice fish, lots of natives, on yarn n eggs.

RE:Steelhead
Probably too small for Washington...the Cedar's mouth. It's good. Also, outside Issaquah creek. Troll herring 100' behind your release clip...but I don't think you would have a downrigger on an 8 foot boat...I'd just plan on hittin Beaver up in the next few weeks. If you fly fish...Beaver can be excellent on 'the bar' that separates that little bay to the right from the shallow shoal on the left. It's a great place to fish and catch some big fish taking submergers and risers.fishingmachine wrote:yeah well i have school so i cant make it out before it closes

y would u use herring over night crawlers
and are u using a flasher and then just herring

RE:Steelhead
Fishingmachine, you're the man of 1000's questions. Haha. Well, I'd say nightcrawlers work well behind pop-gear...i.e. wedding ring and worm behind pop gear. Now, herring are just as good out there. Troll 15-35 feet down and make sure your bait is at least 100' behind your downrigger...where you clip your line in...otherwise your strikes will go down considerably...this has been noted by others on this site. I don't use flashers...that actually just spooks the fish more...go with dull-colored pop gear with a worm...or scratch that all together and go with JUST a herring trolled with a trailing hook that loosey dangles...you know to rig em. Herring immitate the baitfish that enter Lk. Sammamish and then the Sammamish River...these are baby kings, silvers, etc...try to immitate these baitfish as best as you possibly can without spooking the cutts, cause they are prone to this...they will be lurking off of ledges and on the bottom...they just take over this lake in April...problem then becomes fishing in and around drunken people operating water-craft...this is why I opt out and fish little lakes like Margaret and Langlois because of no combustible engines allowed...people on jet skis sometimes have no consideration that you have a line in the water than trails some 100' feet behind your boat...fishingmachine wrote:okay i might have to convince my dad to take his 15 foot boat out to sammamish and troll herring

Yeah and not only that, Sammamish has been slow of late. Don't get too worried about that...the cutts sometimes have a mind of their own and go to strange places, especially on sunny days, even if it's cold out. I'd focus on Beaver and put in your time. You'll do well!fishingmachine wrote:thanks cutthroat i was just trying to figure out y me and my dad had no luck at sammamish last weekend
