Rufus Woods Help!!
I am heading to Rufus next week and I had some questions. I plan on staying at Bridgeport state park but I heard its on the other side of the lake from the net pens. I will be fishing from a boat, so is fishing good on that side of the lake? Are there any BIG Triploids over there? Should I figure out somewhere else to camp? I'm not quite sure what to use for bait either I plan on trolling weddingrings and roostertails, are thhose good ideahs for BIG Triploids? If anyone could send me any info I would greatly appreciate it thankyou guys!

The park is 20 some odd miles downstream from the net pens. Don't tell anyone but the fishing is fantastic right out front from the launch. Most people like the pens and thats ok with me. Try trolling the "can line" near the dam in the top 10 feet of water. The fish are starting to rise in the water column. It is getting a little late in the season for the big trips, but if you want to target them, try larger offerings. Perhaps a 6" rapala, or something like that.
Wedding rings and the sort will catch a lot of 12 to 20 inch anyway in the lake right now, but if you want 12 to 20 pounders, try larger offerings, very early in the day, late in the afternoon, and ........................................
FYI, black flies are always good, woolly buggers, Zonkers, etc., seem to take their fair share of the monsters.

I went to Rufus last week for the first time and killed them. All of are keepers were over 8lbs. I used a slinky wieght (1oz), 3' leader with a white or black tube jig and a corky in it with a hook. We drifted or trolled slowly so our wieght would drag the bottom. Good luck, you will have a blast.
