Agreed, but it's hard to beat the 06 for versatility. You can load it heavy with a 200 grain Barnes TSX + IMR 4381 powder for big game like elk, or you can load it light with a 125 grain Speer TNT + IMR 4064 for varmints. Recoil with the "light" load is surprisingly mild. I zapped countless jackrabbits in Utah using that combo, and they literally exploded in clouds of red mist & hair. :rambo:

The two guns hangin' from my shoulders seem to work well on the streets for me...HAHAHA still a crazy dream of mine, I use to say I'd like to wrestle a bear ONLY IF he had a muzzle on his face, and filed down nails; It just turn into a boxing match then right? As long as I keep my feet, I won't get stomped on...crazy talk is all....not ever gonna happen...But when it comes to guns, my knowledge is little; .270 for hunting, 12 gauge for birds...I hunt Archery mainly, its fun to chase the animals around a sneak in to make a kill from 30 yards away. Too easy to shoot something 200 yards away with that rifle (exaggeration). Either way, its still a sport as long as its legal and you follow the regs...
Anyone ever seen this Youtube vid...check it out, who wants to shoot this gun????
.557 T-Rex...copy and paste it in the browser...its bad @$$$$

I've also got a 22-250 but have not shot it for years. Loading your own ammo can save a lot of money, plus you can tune the ammo for the rifle. I highly recommend a 55 grain Nosler ballistic tip w/38 grains of H380. It's possible to load them hotter, but my groups start to spread out. What's the point of more velocity if you can't hit what you're shooting at?

There are very few things wrong with the 30-06 round. I made my farthest kill shot at 1100 yards with a 06. But my favorite hunting gun is the Remington 700 7mm mag! But I do love the .223 but if I was to buy a varmint round now it would be the .17 boy they are fast.

Oh that's tough. I'd have to say 16" AR built off LaRue Stealth Upper and LMT Lower, with all the usual goodies (Trijicon Accupoint, Magpul Furniture, etc.).

heres another question for you gun guys. I read of people using graphite lube for thier guns. I've alwasys used hoppes but was thinking about puting graphite in my AR. Does that stuff fowl anything up? Does it burn? Does it need to be re applied after every trip to the range? When I got my AR I field stripped it and once I took it apart it looked like the bolt had grease in it. I cleaned it and put it back together with hoppes.
I won't kill anything less than a meal

I would NEVER use graphite for lube...EVER! Stay with any good quality brand name stuff. Less is good...more is not. Glad you got what you wanted.

I believe there is an awesome silicone based lube that is pretty dang good... My buddy used to have a little spray can of it he used on a hard to chamber AK it made the chambering a lot easier. I will look for it on-line after work:salut:
But if maintained properly normal Hopers is fine.....
Oh and no to graphite:-"
