Lake washington fishing

Post by Derrick-k » Tue Jul 24, 2007 2:04 pm

Does anyone know how I can fish lake washigton in an 8ft plastic boat and catch trout. I would lanch in coulon park.

I would also settle for catfish near there, or bass,or crappie and perch.
fishing holes/ how to fish I only know how to fish bobber and worm for bass.

catfish on lk wa in waters that a 8ft plastic boat can handle sounds a lot like the arboretum to me!

firetiger there are mostly small cats.

derrik-k you could troll around the mouth of the ceder river. its pretty hot for cutts right now. rooster tail panther martin basic trout gear. you could also anchor up and power bait it there.

Lake Washington is a nice sized lake, so it can be pretty intimidating for a newcomer. But you can catch smallies and perch around Coulon park. At coulon they also have a place where can drag you boat to the water, that is mostly uncrowded. But a worm will catch just about anything. But like I said it a little intimidating and the fish can be scattered. But by using a worm you will catch any fish, and once you identify the fish that are holding around you, you can fine tune a little bit. Like if catch a bass, switch to crank baits or plastics, a trout switch to eggs of dough bait etc. You might even come to find out that a worm is all you need. Remember to check the regs though, its a certain distance from the mouth of the cedar where you are allowed to fish. Also when fishing for bows you arnt allowed to keep any over 20". And for 1/2 the season you cant keep bows under 12". So there is almost like a slot limit. I wouldn't recommend going out on a sunny day, with a boat that size those big boats will push you around a lot and they dont care one bit. I dont do a whole lot of fishing at lake WA, only for sockeye. But I have caught trout, bass, and perch from Coulon dock. One more thing, last time I checked lake WA was federal water and you need tabs for your boat, but I could be mistaken.

See the rules are still kind of hazy to me. I just got my first boat w/o a trailer/motor. So I am new to this stuff as well. I did start a thread in the boat section about this question. But I was referring to a 10' aluminium and a minn kota trolling motor, so it might be different. But if you post a new thread regarding this question, you should get all the info you need.
