Rules and Entry Form 2005 Lake Samish Fishing Derby
August 27th, 2005

Rules & Regulations
Sponsored by Trout Enhancement of Whatcom County
· Registration is required by the day of the event.
· Check-in will end at 9am, Saturday, August 27th.
· This derby will be limited to the first 100 registered anglers.
· Every registered angler will be entered into the raffle drawing for prizes.
· All anglers must have a current 2005 Washington State freshwater fishing license.
· All Washington State freshwater rules and regulations apply.
· The derby will begin at 6am, and end at 2pm. Start and finish times will be sounded with air horns.
· A TEWC Board Member prior to launch will inspect all boats and equipment.
· Boats and equipment are subject to inspection at any time by a TEWC Board Member.
· All boats must meet U.S. Coast Guard safety requirements
· Once inspected, all boats must display an inspection sticker.
· All boats must stay within the "NO WAKE" buoy line in front of the public boat launch until the start of the derby.
· All boats must return to the designated weigh-in area no later than 2pm.
· Only trout may be entered and weighed.
· No rainbow or cutthroat trout less than 14" may be entered into the derby.
· All trout will be measured, weighed and recorded for the WDFW per regulation of having a tournament
· Only 1 (one) fish per person will be eligible for “Biggest Fish” prizes
· The largest trout will be based on weight. Should a tie occur, greatest length will determine the winning fish.
· All trout weighed are subject to inspection (including inspecting stomach contents)
· Any trout found to be "modified" (with weights, ice, etc) will be disqualified, and the corresponding angler will be disqualified from all portions of the event.
· All weighed fish will be cleaned at the weigh-in station by a member of TEWC
· Individuals found to be in violation of any state or derby rules will be disqualified. Any disqualifications will result in forfeiture of all entry fees, and will remove that angler from all events of the derby.
· Anglers must be present at award assembly to claim any prizes. In the event that an angler is not present to claim "biggest trout", the next in-line angler will be awarded the prize. In the event that the angler is not present to claim a raffle prize, another name will be drawn.
· All prize money is based on a full field of 100 anglers, and will be pro-rated in the event that the field is not full.
· Participation in the tournament grants TEWC the use of any pictures of contestants, accounts or interviews with contestants it gathers for the lawful promotion of TEWC and its tournament operations
· By entering in the derby and signing the entry form, you hereby acknowledge that you have received a copy, and have read and understand the rules of this tournament, and release Trout Enhancement of Whatcom County and its members of ALL liabilities before, during and after the event. Tournament results cannot be challenged, and by signing the entry form you waive your right to any legal action against Trout Enhancement of Whatcom County and its members.
· Should a circumstance arise that these rules do not cover, a decision may be made by at least three (3) TEWC Board Members.
· Entry fees are non-refundable
· TEWC members are not eligible to participate in TEWC fishing derbies

Check-in will be at the N. Lk. Samish Shell Gas Station-Food Mart Parking Lot from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (Food, snacks, beverages and worms available after 6 a.m.) There will also be an informational meeting and Q&A time at the Bellingham Hampton Inn, 3985 Bennett Dr. Bellingham on Friday Aug 26 from 6p.m. to 9 p.m.
