Took some time off the tying desk to enjoy our annual Thanksgiving trip with my brothers and nephew. We had two boats up this year and six guys. We launched a little after 8 and headed out to Seven Bays while my brother in his boat headed to A rock. We started texting each other and we are both starting to hook up right away. First fish in my brother's boat hits hard and breaks the line. We trolled from the marina at Seven Bays up into Hawk Creek with six fish to show for it. Biggest for that troll was a little over 19". We pull up to move and start trolling the little cove down from Lincoln. We make a little loop around the cove and get a fish every time we make the loop and two on one troll. We get a couple more 19 inchers and several 17 to 18 inch fish. The rest of our three man limit was the typical 16 inch trout. We were using orange and perch Kekedas on the downriggers at 11 and 17 feet. Trolling speed was around 2.5 mph.

My brother trolled the rocks at A rock and went on up to Sterling point and had very similar results. They finished their 3 man limit by 1:30 with two 19 inchers, several around 17, and the rest at 16 inches. They were trolling the same, orange and perch Kekedas at 10 and 15 feet on the downrigger. Trolling speed was the same, 2.5 mph.

So between our two boats we had 30 fish, only ended up keeping 19. Filleted them out and kept a few whole for our mom. Should be sitting in a brine right now ready to be smoked tomorrow. Stayed the night at Ft. Spokane and had a nice campfire, dutch oven ribs and chicken, macaroni and cheese, and some great company! Always such a fun trip for us to enjoy spending time together doing what we love.

Great report, I will be on Sprague next Friday trying some of your flies. How long of a leader are you using between a flasher and the fly? Thanks

Camping for the night really is a great finish to what sounds like a pretty good on the water for all. Congrats! Stay after them.

Wow, sounds like you had a great time Dave and very happy to hear you got over the crud too!! Looking forward to re-scheduling our outing. ;-)

Just getting the word out: Public Service Announcement - Rules for Roosevelt are changing sometime in December and ALL native trout (kokanee excluded) with an intact adipose fin will have to be released. Please see the news release here - http://wdfw.wa.gov/news/oct0716a/
