Jeff took Pepe' out to get some Kokanee. They worked Colyar ledge trolling through schools of Kokanee with a variety of gear. Mack's Kokanee Pro wedding rings with the glo burst Smile Blade was best, but stay tuned, as soon as he "proves" some things out we'll outline some more options. Remember, they are Sockeye... The 0000 Double D Dodger is a stalwart standby. Most importantly, keep working the gear through schools of fish. Old fishing mentor always said: "it's better to fish where there are fish, rather than where they aren't"... Scented corn, especially Pautzke's Fire Corn is also a plus. Remember to take it easy and give when they twist, turn, shake or pull. You will increase the percentage you put in the net.

For those of us who don't get a chance to fish Chelan much, could you explain where Colyar Ledge is? Is it uplake or downlake from Wapato Point? I think I may remember seeing in a post that it was off the boating club, or boat launch? Hard to find maps that have the locals vocabulary for spots. Thanks for any insight.

The area above the Narrows starting at about the 200' contour extending to the 400'+ contour. It is the area where Wenatchee Phil Colyar caught the current state record Mackinaw. Anton

Another good way of finding popular locations on this site is to use our GPS Hotspot tool. You can select Lake Chelan, and then set the filter to species for "kokanee", then set the report ratings for 4 and 5s. You'll get some interesting results... :-)
GPS Hotspots tool can be found under the "Members" link, top of page, right side. You do need to be registered and a member of course (it's free).
