Headed out to Storm wanting to follow up on my opening day fun. Started at 7am and finished at 12:30pm. Fish were not eager to bite for first 2 hours so had to try a few Elgin Fishing God's Tooth spoons before figuring out the fish wanted brown trout set on fast action. Later in the day, pink top worked well as did silver shiner and orange top. Mainly trolled and God blessed with 28 fish. All fish safely released. Fish ranged from 10"-12" and I was not able to land a jumbo this time. All fish caught near the surface. Talked to a fly angler who told me he fished 3 hours this morning and never had a bite. Wishing all tight lines!

Hi cobrar543,
Nice to chat with you again. I don't know my exact speed as I do not use a fish finder when fishing for trout. I troll at speed 1 on my Minn Kota motor. The speed should not affect the performance of the spoon. The fish dictate what speed you need to be at. To be most effective using the God's Tooth spoons I highly recommend the following and should you practice these concepts, you should catch fish exceeding your expectations!
1. Need to purchase all 12 of the patterns
2. Do not spend more than 5 minutes using a pattern
3. Use a dual clip (snap) to attach the God's tooth split ring which enables quick change outs
4. Use 4lb or 6lb fluorocarbon leader about 4' long and attached to a swivel.
5. Every so often stop the boat and cast and retrieve with a little twitching. Cast in all directions.
6. Change boat direction quickly on occasion and be aware of making turns as that is when fish like to strike the spoon.
7. If getting no action after 4 spoons have been tried then either try the same 1 of 4 but reverse the action, or try a new pattern with the action reversed. Also at that time, either speed up or slow down your troll and see how the fish respond.
8. Keep working until you have went through all 12 patterns and reversed each pattern. In other words, you have 24 options of presentation to the fish. Hope this helps in your success:)
