8/31/2015 7:31:00 PMI was there yesterday also and also got skunked, but that was because we got there as bite died. You need to catch the outgoing about an hour or 2 before low tide.. 95% of the people use a large steel 1 oz. jig with a chartreuse single (grub/worm) or double (scampi) tail. Eggs also work great but you have to fish the far downstream side of the pilings.

8/31/2015 9:17:00 PMWe call that type of fishing the dark side and that will come to an end soon. I fish eggs and it's very effective. I don't like those late tides becUse those fish don't like to move in the hours of daylight. I will be up there on Monday. I will be in Vegas until Sunday.

9/1/2015 12:39:00 AMthe samish set up is typically a giant jig plunked (lol) as a form of flossing, usually done at low tide by characters with a less savory aproach to fishing. incoming tide and high slack are better for finding biters. legitamate techniques that work include blue fox spinner slow retrieve, and float/roe. other techniques do work, but roe and spinners seem to produce best for me.

Regarding jig fishing. I've never figured out how the 'flossing' thing worked. The only ones I caught using a jig, hit it like a freight train, and it was a fight from the word go - no flossing or snagging involved. I've been a lot more successful at the Samish w/eggs.
They had the float law three years ago, but not the last 2.

9/1/2015 8:23:00 PMAlso, on the farm side, you have a cleaning station with a sink and cutting board. I believe they started charging $5 on the 'free' side last year too.
