Great evening on the river at my secret spot with a buddy of mine. Decided to pop down to a deep hole in the river that produces quality fish year round, though the evening's target was squaw fish. Pulled out two squaw's, each hovering around the 2ft. mark. Fattest of the two weighted in at 5 pounds. Only drawback was a fresh oil slick on the bank that coated the rocks for a few hundred yards.

Very refreshing to read a report about fishing for Northern Pike Minnows. What kind of spinners did you use to catch them?

I enjoy catching them also, they are good fighters. They hammer gold/yellow panther martins and vibrax spinners for me. Normally when I'm after smallmouth bass or trout, but a fish is a fish.

I was using a red rooster tail, not sure what size. I've had a lot of luck using gold/yellow in panther martins and spoons as well. In fact, that evening was the first time I've tried using red.
