Went out for what I call a "quick fishing stint" which seems to be my normal means of fishing. I had about 30 minutes to fish by the time I reached Coulon Park.

I dropped down a dark brown snub along the area where the boats park to get to Ivars and only the smallest of fish came out to greet me. I spent a good twenty minutes there before I decided to change locations and color.

I moved to the corner by the Ivar's restaurant and tossed out from the corner toward the dock. Then, as my rig reached the halfway point between the bridge and me, I felt a very aggressive take. I didn't even have to set the hook!!! As I was reeling the slack, the fish drove away from me and completed the job.

It had to be a smallie and I am glad it was. She never quit fighting. I pulled her up gently and realized the word aggressive was an understatement to describe the strike. The owner hook went through the bony section of its pallette! I had to use my hook remover to take out the hook.

A lady nearby took the photo, for which I was grateful and I quickly released my little smallie.

Just glad I didn't go home skunked. Not too shabby for a 30 minute deal and it sure beat sitting in traffic.

Conditions: Bright, Sunny Skies, Warm perhaps in the 80s as a best guess
Gear: 6'6" MH Shimano 2-piece Compre and 2500 Symetre
Technique: Drop Shot
Bait/Hook: Green Sniper Snub and Owner Mosquito Hook
Line: 8 # Berkley Vanish (I know!!! My brother bought it and spooled my reel with it. Just trying to use it up.) SeaGuar FC is my line of choice for drop shotting.
