Got to Silver a t daybreak today and had 8 boats from a lewis County bass club about to start a tournament. Don't know what the results were didn't make it to weight in. Water temp was at beginning of day 60 degrees and 62 at the end of day. Baits that were most effective for me were Flippin a Plastic bait called brush hog in the pumpkinseed color and crank bait in firetiger color. Water was mostly still green but some places its starting to clear up a little but still Algae present. Weather was over cast with only 1 shower which lasted only a few minutes. Caught about 10 fish with the largest at 3lbs 13ozs which hit a crankbait along some riprap . Fish would of been a good one but looked like it was anorectic in other words was really thin. The next biggest fish was at 2lbs with the rest in the 1lb range. Most fish were quite shallow near some type of cover. I always Catch photo and release unharmed Dave Newby

hey dave, i was the guy that said hi that morning. the bass club didnt do too well, the winner only had 4 fish the biggest being not much over 2 pounds. the guy i was fishing with took second with 5 fish and got second big fish at just under 2 i think, most of the rest were just barely over 12". we found the hot spot about 20 minutes before weigh in so we didnt get a chance to catch many, but we found em flippin the shore just right of the boat launch. what time did you get out of there? your truck was still there when we left at like 3:30

Using a tripod is the only way to take pictures by yourself and it doesn't have to be an expensive one either.

I lost at the boat launch boat house with the old stove in the inside a better one than the picture report. That brush line and log groups have produced fish for me all season long.I stopped off and talked to the owners at the Silver Lake Resort for about an hour or so and left about 5.

I have been flying the Jolly Roger for about 10 years now so fellow anglers that I know well know that it's my boat so we can compare tactics and catches on the lake that I'm fishing for the day. I don't usually cast a jig. I flip or pitch the lure and mostly use it in shallower water (1 to 4 Foot ) around docks, Brush piles, and lay down logs. Fishing this shallow of water I get to see a lot of the strikes. I use pork baits most of the season for trailers and plastics and pork later when the water warms up. Jigs work all year long and I've caught bass in 36 degrees water with jigs. The main thing for using jigs in shallow water is to try and make a splashless entry into the water which comes with practice at home with a container of water and time on the water at the lake. I very seldom fish sitting down only if I'm fishing at night with a BlackLight so flippin and pitchin is the main presentation I use for jigs.
