What kind of crankbait do u use and what colors work best for colder overcast days?

Crankbaits depend on a lot of factors 1. Water temperature -Cold water usually 50 degrees or colder I use a fat bodied or slow
wobbling lure. Warm water 50 or above a thin bodied or fast wiggling bait as warmer water forage are more active.
2. water clarity - In clearer water use more natural looking baits which look like the
forage- examples - Perch-Bass-Trout-Crawdad. In stained or muddy water use more
brighter colors like-Chartreuse-fluorescent - whites -blues as bass can see these
colors more easily. Rattling type lurs are also needed for bass to locate in stained and
muddy waters.
3. Depth the fish are located- For fish that are located in shallow water use a small billed
lure and deeper water fish use a longer bill which makes the lure go deeper.
I use 10 to 12 pound line for my crank bait fishing and a loose drag setting for surging fish so as they don't rip the hooks out .
Generally bright days bright colors -dark days dark colors. I use a quick release snap so as to easily change lures until I find out what the bass want. Some times I use a long billed crank in shallow water and reel real slow as to stir up the bottom to imitate a feeding bait.
Air temperature changes more than water so it's best to have some type of water temperature device which can be any thing from an
tropical aquarium floating tube to one installed on the boats sonar unit. Spring time is when my temp gauge gets the most work out as temps around the lake can be different.

Met you this summer as we were both pulling our boats out at Silver Lake. I have a blue Skeeter. We talked for quite a while and I really enjoyed you sharing your knowledge of the lake. My Skeeter is down and I was wondering if you were heading out to Silver soon and wouldn't mind some company?
I haven't been on silver in quite a while now and I really miss her.
