Just got back from the dock tourney at Mar Don. The weather was pretty bad for that area, but it was nothing I'm not used too. The fishing was pretty good, but the weather kind of slowed down the bite, as far as panfish, I could have walked away with maybe 5 crappie and 1 bluegill that were big enough to keep. There was tons of small perch. We fished all night both nights and all day Saturday. We used mini micros for most of the weekend in white, glow or yellow/ white and caught a little of everything. My buddy did catch a catfish on a whole herring. We tried for walleye but got skunked. I finally placed in the dock tourney, that only took me 3 years. My buddy caught the 2nd biggest trout, my other buddy caught the 2nd biggest bluegill and there was only 1 catfish caught so my other buddy got 1st and 2nd. My boys made me proud. But we fished almost the entire time. I got 5 hours of sleep for the weekend. Probably the last camping trip of the year and we had a blast.

it was a very frustrating weekend for me. i don't know how many crappie and perch i caught, over 50 EASY and probably only 2 were close to 9", ugh. i can't beleive the biggest crappie was only .68. also, on the first night i caught a smallie on my first cast that was about 10". and i thought no big deal and let it go...that fish would have gotten me 2nd place. ugh.

good job gpc & crew!

I was a poser. I was at Potholes on Friday and fished all morning until about lunch and I knew right then and there that tournament wasn't for me. I headed over to Banks and slaughtered the Walleye. Potholes will be for another time.

Michaelunbewust and me drove up Friday and fished til noon. I apologized to him but after fishing until lunch I knew that was going to be nothing but small fish. I had a friends going away party at Banks and drove up there. Weather was not the factor, because we fished 44 degrees/windy on Sat and 50 degrees/pouring rain on Sunday. But to CK14, I was the sole reason that two of us weren't there. I will own up to that. As for the 2 8lb Walleyes that were caught the day after I left Potholes, Would love to see some pics of that.

Thanks Fish, I do what I can.

Joe Heater, I know how tough it is to catch nothing but small fish, plus that honey hole that they call banks you have going for you. But even though the fish were tiny they still payed out. The trout I caught was pretty nice, but I never would have guessed the bluegill I caught would have taken 1st or the crappie would have taken 2nd for that matter. Going from midnight on Sunday until 11am on Sunday there was only 3 or 4 changes in the runnings, I think the rain really kept people inside.

Great job GPC! Is there even room to move around on the dock during the tournament? I was there during a non-dock tourny weekend and the thing was packed! So was that catfish the overall big fish? How big was it?

Way to go GPC wrecking crew!

The dock was pretty slammed, but at night it wasnt really packed and thats when we did most of our fishing. No the catfish wasnt the overall big fish, but it was 2nd. The first was an 18lb carp and then the 11lb catfish and then an 8lb carp was 3rd biggest.
