Bottom Fishing From Boat

Started the morning by sleeping through my alarm, but still got to the water a little after 7:00am. It was a clear chilly Fall morning, the water temp was 57 degrees and the water was very calm. After the sun came up it was really warm and quite comfortable. However, we still couldn't locate where the fish have moved. Fished points, structure, and weed beds between 8' and 30' and didn't catch any fish. Tried dropshots, T-rigged senkos, jigs, crankbaits, and corn. Marked several schools on the sonar and saw several jumpers (carp?), but none were interested in what we offered. This is the longest fishless slump I've had this year.

To add insult to fishlessness I had my first encounter with a Lake Tapps Stump. Coming around the Northwest point of Tapps Island, I ran into a stump at full speed. Luckily, with two of us in the boat full speed is about 13 mph. It gave us quite a scare but somehow didn't cause any dents or other damage and no one was hurt. The boat rode up a little on the stump, I quickly throttled down and then we slid down the side.

We talked with someone who lives on the lake and she mentioned that they put their boat back in since they heard that the lake won't start being drained until the end of the month. There's still time for a few more trips!

Glad you two and the boat were unhurt during your stump encounter. Bill and I went out last Monday afternoon and didn't have any luck with the fish either.
