Where are all those steelhead that was reported on the WDFW website this week? I fished from about 7:30 am until 12:30 pm and only managed to hook and land two fungus covered fish, what a disappointment! The water is slightly off-color making visibility difficult, but I never saw even one fish cruising. One other fellow that I saw landed another dark steelhead from his boat after playing it for over an hour. He was using 4 lb test line he said.

I sure hope the next load of fish that the hatcheries put in are of better quality, I drive a good distance to fish this lake and I look forward to taking one fish home on each trip. But if they continue to put the quality of fish in that they did this week I guess I'll have to stick with catch and release, but I thought they were putting them there for people to take home!

Anyone else having any better luck at Kress? If you're coming from a long ways off I'd say wait a week or two, it's really not worth the drive until a few more plants have been made.

Tight lines everyone!

Thanks for the heads up! I was planning on heading down next weekend. Last year the fish were real healthy in the first month and then they started to get real ugly. So its surprising that they not healthy looking now. According to WDFW the first plant happened on 1/8/08.

That sucks! I was planning on heading up there this weekend. I guess I'll continue with cabin fever a little while longer.
