Hit up lake Alice around 4pm, the algae bloom was pretty awful. It covered most of the lake. Fishing was pretty slow at first. I had a few bumps on the fly, managed to catch one in the shallow bay farthest from the launch. We trolled around the entire lake until about 5:30 when another friend showed up and he got in, my other friend got out to fish from shore. We headed back up to the shallow bay and this time the fish were biting a lot. We just sat in the bay and cast spinners at them and kept getting hits left and right. Between the 2 of us we managed 7 fish in a 1/2 hour. It was started to get dark so we headed back in. Right after we pulled in my buddy fishing from shore caught a really nice 13" Alaskan Rainbow. All in all, it was a great day, I just hope the algae doesn't get worse. It makes for hard fishing when they can't see much.

What is with the algae bloom there? Does anyone know what caused this to happen? I was there 5 days ago and it was BAD. I C&R'd about 70 planters in 4 hours with little dick nites. The only place that held any fish was that cove in the far end in 3-5 of water...they also slammed BG Bombers on the fly rod. I'm not sure what caused this to happen. Any ideas? It's been seen at Margaret, too.

I think the algae is caused by too much phosphorous in the water. I'm thinking that, because of Green Lake and the Alum treatment they did there to get rid of the algae. Not sure though.

I don't know what caused the algea bloom, A week ago there was nothing that I could see in the water. We had one nice day and all of a sudden there's a huge algea bloom. I hope they do something to get rid of it. I'm not sure if the DFW will step in or not.
