The fish gods were kind today. I managed to catch a 17-inch holdover. I am sure this hen has survived a few openers based on the condition and the color of the meat. The tail and fins were perfect and the fish was solid and well rounded. I was using a 9 ft leader to catch the stockers but I decided to shortened the leader to about 18 inches and try for a big one. I would have given the day a five star rating but the stockers were dinks.

Nice fish. Noticed the big tail on it too. Lots of times hatchery fish come with real small tails. That's a beauty

Quad,

I was using the two yellow power eggs in the picture along with 18 inches of leader. I failed to mention that the fish net didn't make the trip. It was a rush catching this thing on 2 lb leader. I just chased it around the boat until it tired. Julie just reached down and scooped it up and the rest is history.
