5/20/2008 7:34:00 PMI saw you guys out in the rain. I was in the inflatable. Green really seems to work better, followed by blue or white, when it's overcast or raining on that lake. I've caught using red or gold when it's bright. Most people I see on the dock use orange or green powerbait, seems to be pretty consistant. Hope it helps for next time. Wondered how much the rain was playing a roll vs. the overcast skies. Thanks for the tip. I look forward to hitting the water again. May try Wednesday after work. I like reading about your home-made lures. Not too many people do that anymore.

Now, changing subjects a bit....does anyone know if there is a difference between bass fishing on Pine vs. Beaver? Seems to me that Beaver has more habitat for them. Any experience out there?

5/21/2008 1:46:00 PMI've seen some people pull some large bass out of pine. I would imagine the patties to the far left of the launch or the shallows at the far end straight out from the dock. I havn't tried bass on that lake though, but thats where I would start if I did. They are in there for sure. I've been thinking about taking my snorkling gear out this summer to get a better idea of the bottom. I also want to use it to clean up some of the trash I see.

5/21/2008 3:27:00 PMWell the bass in pine are bigger then the bass in beaver and u get both smallies and largemouth out of pine. But if u want constant action i would fish beaver if u want size fish pine. I caught a 4.5 pound smallie out of pine last year

5/21/2008 3:31:00 PMfishingmachine, thanks for the input. I wouldn't have guessed that the Pine bass would be bigger. I'll have to try for some. Do they run deep or do they stay up under the docks? That seems to be the majority of the cover on the lake.

5/22/2008 4:25:00 PMI have caught them up under the docks or near the pads but also you can fish rocky slopes bouncing grubs and get smallies
