That was me towing my Smokercraft. I wish we could have talked. You are the first member I have heard from, who was at a lake same time as me and had some form of interaction even though I was just waving to you as I drove by. How did you do? That spot I was trolling at is "the spot" on this lake and I almost always limit right there and usually within an hour or so. You must have watched me go back and forth there in the same 100 yards of water thinking, that dude must be lost. They bit almost non stop so I kept going back and forth over them. I must have set the hook literally 15 times missing the fish. I was playing the carryover when the Park Ranger's boat was passing by me on the way back to the launch, towing that old floating dock that they took apart at the launch. That fish fought so well, I had to take my time playing him to avoid the risk of breaking him off. I cooked him up that night. He was good but a little muddy. I just got done eating the other 4 plants (there wasn't much to them) and they tasted about the same as the larger fish surprisingly. This lake usually puts out fish that taste amazing but like I mentioned, they were a little muddy, but good all the same. I'm sorry we didn't get to talk. I will likely be back there tomorrow (Saturday morning) maybe around 9 for 5 more. If you get a chance to be out there in a boat, try that spoon in the spot I was working and you won't be disappointed. Dave

5/23/2008 4:20:00 PMSorry, I forgot to address the browns. I didn't catch any browns. I don't think they are much interested in my Dick Nite spoon although I did catch one brown last year after they planted them, using this spoon. Tomorrow if go there again, I might give a Rapala a few minutes to see what happens. I'll let you know if the browns were interested or not.

Thursday, I left Cranberry empty handed. I had a few nibbles with a slip bobber setup, but no hook sets. No action on anything else I tried.
I just haven't quite figured out what work *well* on this lake in Spring/Early summer.
I jumped over the Heart Lake for about 45 minutes and pulled in two small plants (and cleanly released them)....so the day wasn't a complete bust.

5/23/2008 8:05:00 PMbig fish lite line the brown i landed was 16inches. I hooked two others the same day and both flipped the hook. After that i have released a ton of bows but no other browns.
