Headed over to pine for the evening to try out some new swimbait I just got. No wind, overcast, 1 boat leaving when I got there, 5 people on the dock. I basically had the lake to myself out there, except for some open water swimmers making as much noise as a herd of buffalo crossing the nile. Anywho trolled my different swim baits at different depths, didn't get any hits. Switched to the old home made green wedding ring combo and caught a 11" rainbow in about 5 minutes. Hooked another small 8", got my gear in the water and started out towards the center of the lake, got a real big hit. Blood started pumping but the fish just hit and ran. Trolled another 50 feet, turned around and made another pass, felt him nibbling on the lure so I turned off the motor and hooked him. He jumped as I went to set the hook and snapped the line. 6lb. The only good thing is I marked my line before he hit, so now I know how deep, how fast, and where they're hanging out. I'll be back. Left at 9:30. Trolled the entire time as slow as possible. Outside temp was 55 and the water was warmer, maybe about 60-62.

Nice report. Sounds like they were pretty consistent last night. We left about 5:30, but wished we could have stayed until dark it was so pleasant out there. Sorry to hear you lost your fish and setup. The large rainbow my dad caught had a hook in it's gullet with about 10 inches of leader attached to a swivel hanging out the mouth. The action has slowed down on Pine, but the fish are there if you're persistent enough. Good luck next time gian.

Hey gian, I was out there yesterday too but I must have left right before you got there. I noticed they were all down the middle of the lake too. Seems to change day by day though. Good to hear your going for the big one and sounds like your getting close too !! Tight lines

I just asked my wife for a fish finder for fathers day. If I get it those guys are caught for sure...... Thanks for the responses guys. I'll get one soon. The 8" rainbow did give me a good laugh though. I thought they would have all be caught by now.
