6/16/2008 11:57:00 AMyeah Liberty Lake is a weekday lake only. Hard to believe that is an "upgraded" launch, and for some reason it attracts the boaters who launch and load like it's their first time ever.

6/16/2008 4:56:00 PMYa got to love the launch. The public fishing platform allows people to come on down and fish but, if you cast really well, and have a ton of lead, you can get into almost 6' of water. No wonder people stop getting fish almost as soon as the season opens.
Then, getting on the water, or off, is tough enough, but then you have strict times when you must be out of the launch or get a ticket. Oh ya, and you can't get there too early either.
Ya got to love the money WE spent on this one.

6/16/2008 7:08:00 PMi live about a mile from the lake and go 100 miles to badger instead. or newman, maybe 10 miles, for a quickie. believe it or not, the launch is a little better than what it replaced. there used to be two launch slots but they went east-west, instead of north-south, and were basically at the bottom of the sloped drive down. so anybody going in or out blocked all traffic.
nik is right, save this lake for a weekday/weeknight. in addition to a less crowded launch, you may not have to suffer as much skier and jet-skier traffic too.
for all the WDFW guys reading this, i realize you had limited options because of the size of the site, but the problems are as follows:
1) only one very steep (can't see your trailer once it drops over the side when backing in empty) launch slot
2) stoopid metal structure on the opposite side of the launch dock prevent you from being able to tie up
3) therefore, everyone hangs out on the ramp while the other guy parks, tying up the slot
4) while i think the public pier was a great idea for non-boat owners to be able to fish, they all park in the long spots designated for trucks & trailers.
suggestions:
1) longer dock, with a "Y" or "L" or "F" shape so folks can tie up when launching or taking out
2) see #1, and add a wing onto the dock for fisherman so they can get into deeper water
2) all non-boaters park in upper lot
3) enforcement of the parking spots
