My first trip to Cassidy this year for the evening crappie bite. Arrived about 7:00PM, warm, calm evening. Kicked the float tube south of the launch ramp and stayed about 25 yrds. off the lily pads. A few fish rising, but couldn't get much action on the typical buggers and soft hackles. Even tried some poppers with only limited success. About 9:00, in desperation I switch to a chironomid with an indicator. Must have been what they were looking for, because I had steady action for the next 45 minutes until it was too dark to see my indicator. As usual, nothing over the 10" (?) size limit, but lots of fun on the old 4wt, and probably good practice for some trout fishing this fall. A nice quiet little lake, close to home in Marysville, and it seldom disappoints as long as your expectations are realistic. Few lunkers in this lake, but fun non-the-less.

Size limit is 9". Limit is 10. Won't matter. If you can find 10 crappie in that lake that are 9" you are a much better fisherman than me. I saw you out there. I was the guy with the pontoon that was going flat. I went in and pumped it up and it never went lost any air after an hour. Not sure what that was about.

On the good nights I fish from the dock at the west side of the lake. I catch sometimes 10 15 a night, My best beong 12 inches. the crappies usally average from 7 to 10 inches. I use 4 feet of leader, Small bobber, and a red and white tube jig. and just slowly jerk it and reel. It works pretty consistantly

Do you pay from that dock on the westside? I know it says 2.50 per person but there is never anyone in the place where you would pay. Just curious. Plenty of Crappie all over that thing.

I meant Eastside of the lake. Theres a dock where i fish from. I wouldnt pay 2.00 dollars to fish from that dock, It is raggidy and and it sinks. and Its always full of people, that it seems they cant cast well. There is alot of fish overe there, Ive caught all types off the dock besides catfish. There was a bunch or russians there last time that were keeping everything It was kinda making mad. I Saw 3 inch crappie going into the bucket, I thought about calling wdfw on them,.

WDFW wont do anything about the Russians. I don't know why. Banks lake has them keeping 20 to 30 12 inch walleyes and they have been called on and nothing happens. They got caught at Potholes, Moses and Banks with Nets and nothing happens. I don't know if they are afraid of them or what, but Russians seem to do whatever they want. Although, keeping every crappie they catch in Cassidy isn't all that bad of an idea. Might as well be somebody that the WDFW won't prosecute. If I tried it, Im sure I would go down hard.
