Spent a few days at Cushman...The last get together with extended family and sign-off of Summer of 2008.

Saturday
Arrived around 1PM with clear sunny skies and a slight breeze from the west.
Fished the northern end for some bass with no luck. Was off the water by 4PM.With such nice weather, decided to do a little hiking at Staircase.

Sunday

On the water around 10AM with semi clear skies and a more steady breeze
Began trolling for trout and that elusive monster that broke my line.
Around noon, the weather took a severe turn.Dark ominous clouds began wrapping around the mountains and shortly
there after loud thunder. The lake became more like a bathtub with larger waves and a few white caps.
Frustrated,I turned the boat back to the launch...I was way up north,it was going to be a long and adventurous ride back.
I make it back just fine. I decided to fish off the resort dock with my trusty kastmaster. Well, maybe dumb luck..but I pulled 3 very nice trout in about 45 minutes. The largest being around 2.5 pounds and a very nice fight.
I kept these fish and had a great dinner by the campfire.

I got some photos of the fish via cell phone...If anyone has a clue how to send them to your e-mail...its a motorola razor..
Here's some other pics of the lake

as contact type in your email-save address. once picture is retrieved in your email save picture in a folder. I stayed at a holiday inn express....but if your email address is too long it won't take. so you could make up a new yahoo one but shortened or hotmail etc etc..I had a razor too..

How were the trails at staircase? I grew up camping there - such a gorgeous spot.

The trails are still awesome.I also took the family on the Rose Mountain Trail but didn't get to the top.It was late when we started that hike and as you are probably aware. When the sun goes down in the Olympics, the temps fall even faster. Still a great hike though,I'll fish and hike here all year....just beautiful country

it's been about 3 years since I was last there, and about 10 years before that......what I love about Staircase is it is exactly the same as what I remember when we camped there as kids...the price has gone up, but man, so gorgeous..I have a story about some bullheads (sculpins) that my son was putting in a container..I forgot to put them back in the river...I was awokened by an angry park ranger who found them...luckily, I had put a bunch of ice in the container so they were still alive and fresh...the ranger was going to fine me 500 for each one...there were at least 12 in the container.
