I figured that due to the weather I would check out Lake Ballinger from my little boat. After having problems getting the boat off the trailer due to it sticking to the runners and actually going down with the trailer and filling a third full with water, I took off and checked out the area from the fish dock to the island . It was between 20 and 28 feet of water. Lot's of fish about 2 to 6 feet off the bottom in 57 degrees of water and a few at 6 to 10 feet down(singles). These were probably trout and the mass of fish towards the bottom were perch I'd guess.

I trolled through the mass with several lures ....Dick nites, Flatfish, Woolyboogers, and Weddingrings. Just a few hits but no fish. I then drifted with a jig back and forth through the mass and Nothing,... Nada ...Zip!!! Next time I'll bring worms and maggots and hit that area again.

I went around the lake looking for "hot" spots and found that the lake is void of fish north of the big willow and around to the west, around the the island. Only a few blips at 6 to 10 feet down. Nothing like I saw earlier in the day.

I went back to the dock at 3:00 and talked with the dock guys and they had better luck than I did.. 3 bites and one perch on worms. When I looked at my trailer I noticed that someone had tried to break the pin lock on the hitch. It was bent but didn't break. I couldn't believe it, at that parking lot, someone would try to steal the trailer. It is so open, paved and you can see it from the dock. A dozen people were around. I suppose nothing is safe anymore!....Enough said ..all and all it was a nice day for checking out the fishin' hole. Hope you all had a good day, Steve
