Arrived at the Tapps launch about 9:30 and had a false start, the motor would not cooperate and start. Killed two batteries in the process. Took the boat home and put it on the charger for a couple hours. One it warmed up a bit the motor fired up just fine so he headed back out to the lake.

We headed south out of the county park and drift fished from the trestle to Carl Jenkins park. With no success there, we headed back up to the North end of Dike 4 and let the wind drift us South back towards the launch.

Air temp was in the low 40's when we launched, didn't take notice of the water surface temp. After the 6:00 am rain and snow stopped, cloudy at 9:00 and partially to mostly sunny by 2:00-3:00pm.

No fish but sure was a nice day to try out the (new to me) boat.

At least you got out to enjoy some family time....yeah still alittle early for Tapps, but as soon as the water temp gets to around 60, the smallies will start feeding. The bite wont turn on until they stop moving the water. During the spring and summer in the past, the fishing would be lights out, then the next day, they would lower or raise the water some and the bite was non-existent for a couple days..then turn on again. I spotted a cruising Muskie last Friday down in my area (Church Lake) looked to be somewhere around 40"in length. Come on Spring!!
