Try the north end of the lake. This is the deepest end of the lake. On the east side, there is a channel that connects with Lake Goodwin, and sometimes fish hang around there. Try the area right around the ski marker there, or just to the south of it. Off the western shore there is a hole just off the point there, and people seem to do well between the red marker and the dock in the little bay there. I usually troll from side to side (east-west direction) just south of the northern bay, and sometimes wander up into the bay.
Although I've pulled some 14-16 inch hold overs out of this lake, for the most part small 8-10 inch planters are the norm. Also, the fish don't seem to grow fast in Shoecraft. They seem to be pretty much the exact same size in the fall as the day after they were planted.
I happen to like repallas (#7 Rainbow, and a silvery cutthroat have done well for me there), but the hold-overs I got were mostly on Cowbells with a green wedding ring (brass spinner) and worms. Flat fish have worked for me also. I've also seen people do well anchoring and using just a worm and bobber.
The south end of the lake does have fish,of course, but it just seems like the northern end produces much better.
