I decided to take my wife out for her Mothers Day outing on Saturday because the weather report for Sunday looked bad. Luckily I have a wife who loves fishing, so we headed over to American Lake and rented a row boat ($20 for all day, great deal). We were on the water at about 1 pm, and headed south from Bill's trying to stay inside the 5 mph bouys to avoid getting run over by the crazy power boaters. So our distance from shore ranged between 20 and 50 yards, and the water depth was 30 to 50 feet. We were also checking the shallows along the way for signs of bass beds, but found no signs that the bass are on their beds yet. We made several stops along the way to the south end of the lake, and was getting some decent action at each spot(considering it was mid day).We were trying alot of different methods and tackle, and found that a bobber with about 6' of leader was the most productive. I was using worm and shrimp egg, and my wifer was using worm and maggot. We were both having equal success. We were releasing all the trout that we didn't wound, so by the time we made it to our final destination we only had two on the stringer, but had caught about six so far. Our final destination was at the south end of the lake where it takes a turn to the east and heads back to Little American. We anchored about 30 yards off the point on the north side of where the lake turns to the east. It was pretty slow until about 4pm, and like someone flipped a switch, the bite was on. We continued to release all fish that we did not wound, but we ended up having our limit on the stringer by about 4:45. All the fish were between 12 and 16 inches, so our stringer was looking pretty nice. Had a nice row back to the boat house, and was met by alot of envy by the people fishing on the dock, most of whom only had a couple of very small stockers. It was a great day! (except for the sunburn, forgot the sunblock) And my wife was very happy that we did that for her Mothers Day.
I tried using the "Hotspots" function but it would not place the markers in the right spots, so I hope my descriptions were adequate.

Appreciate the report. I was on American as well and will post a report. First time on this lake, and I enjoyed it, even though I knew almost nothing about. I did know that I wanted to go towards Little American, I didn't, and now I wish that I would have.
