Got out on the lake early this morning. Didn't even get a bite all day. A lot of fish jumping though. Used a number of different things, including a Rapala (top water), my broken back Rapala, a couple of different spinners, and a plastic worm. Either the fish weren't biting, I chose the wrong bait, or some other operator error! (Probably the last one...)

Of course, I'll be back before too long! Does anyone have any idea of the feeding patterns, and bait preferences on Newman? I live 5 minutes away and would like to know the lake well. Any advice would be great.

God Bless,
Ben

hey ben. im no expert by any means, but i have always seemed to do o.k at newman. sounds like you were doing the right things. i have good luck with a yamamoto pumpkin senko by the pads. and shallow crank baits and spinners on the docks. newman has never been much of a midday lake for me. usually early in the morning and evening. But like i said im no expert. just stick with it. put in the work and it will pay off, like most things tend to do. have fun. remember catching the fish is a bonus not being in the house is the main goal. peace.

I was out there a couple weeks ago, fished from about 11 am to dark. I did the same thing (trial and error out of two FULL tackle boxes!!!). Had the most success by the pads and channel mouth to the left of the boat launch. caught a few perch and 1 smb @ 13'' on a white spinner. About dark hooked into a 5 lb tiger on a 5'' yellow grub on the edge of the pads in a little hollow.
