Was on my way to Samish this morning when I got to the Skagit Valley and it was RAINING!! Yeah, good old rain!! I couldn't pass that up, so I made a right and b-lined for Clear Lake.
Water was in the low 70's and I started the day throwing a Powerbait swimbait and a black buzz bait. Nothing was happening there, so i switched over to a jerkbait and spinnerbait.....still nothing.
To make a long morning short, I tried depths from 3-25 feet, in the pads out of the pads, in the grass and on the outside weed edge and nothing??
The only excitement was when a big bruiser made a swipe at my frog as I lifted it out of the water...that was about it.
Left at 2pm. Large trout were rising good though.
