Went to Fish this morning for a few hours.

Got to the lake at 5:30am and on the water by 5:45am. Temps: 71° Surface and 62° at 18'
Wind was gusty from the SW all day.

I began marking fish at 24' or so right by the launch. I decided to go with a Stayner Ducktail to start. I began working it at about 15' in a diagonal pattern from the weeds to the deeper portions of the lake trying to simulate a wayward pumpkin seed. I caught 3 nice Tigers while working my way to the Southwest corner of the lake. All were about 14" At the deep section (over 45') I began marking fish at 28' in large groups about 50' from the SW shore. I changed to size 16 brown chironomids and began fishing them vertically through the holding fish. At first this wasn't successful, however after a few casts I caught a 19" Brookie followed by 3 more (2 Tigers and 1 Brookie) on successive casts. The wind was making it hard to hold position and my anchor line wasn't long enough to reach the bottom. The next hour was unproductive and I began back to the launch. Along the way I landed one more small Tiger and a decent Brookie on the Stayner again.

All in all a pretty good day on the water.

Tight Lines!
