Please help, I have been taking my 4 year old son out to deep lake and we have caught ZERO fish.
I have tried worms, salmon eggs, power bait (yellow, orange, white, pink) spinners and still zero fish, my son really wants to catch a fish. He said to me “daddy I want to catch one like I have seen on TV” you know “that fights” he gets up every Sunday and watched the fishing shows.
So if any of you can point me in the right direction
Oh by the way we live in Maple Valley so any place close by

So... Deep Lake is getting much harder. Back in April/May you could toss orange, green, yellow power bait, or a marshmellow, out about 20-30' away from the shoreline and let it drop to the bottom with about a 12-18" leader floating the bait right above the bottom and you'd catch them like crazy. Their are bass in the back corner if you walk the trail around until you reach the water again out there. you could throw your bass tackle, I've seen people catch them off night crawlers out there though. The other thing is, my brother likes to fish for kokanee off the docks with a slip bobber setup and his bait (usually a worm, worm+power egg combo) about 6-12' below the surface. He'll play around with the depth to try to find them. This can be slow at first, then fast and furious as you just kinda wait for a school to come through.

If you have a small boat... you can catch a lot of blue gill and sunfish on lake 12, and that's closer to your place.

There are the fishing ponds at the Olson Mansion golf course by Tahoma Middle School. Great place to take the young ones for instant satisfaction, even though the fish cost a bit of money. Lake Wilderness is out here and has quite a few nice shore fishing spots available. Good Luck !
